Important points to writing your story

Important points to writing your story!

Writing a story of any type and any length to many can seem like a scary task, but once you get started it really isn't that difficult. However, there are some important points and ideas that should be discussed and remembered.

You need to find your style and your audience.

If you don't know what style you want to write your story in and who your audience will be then it will be very difficult to finish your story. You may in fact finish the story but it will most likely not make sense. Do you want to write for children, teens, or adults? If children what age? What style do you want to write in? You can write fantasy, fiction, non-fiction, historic, comedy, romance. Also you want to look at what type of story you want to write? You can write poetry, a short story, picture books for children, chapter books, comics, novels, etc. There really are many combinations of styles, types, and audience that you can have to write a wonderful story.

Make an outline

It is important to organize your book and your ideas.
Do you want to have a prologue in your book? How many chapters will it have? What content should each chapter have or what will each chapter be called?
These are all important questions to ask yourself and creating an outline helps you answer these types of questions.

Be yourself

It is always important to write what you want how you want to write it. Nowadays it is very easy to publish books at affordable prices as an indie author also called self-published author. Therefore, you can write what you want to write keeping the guidelines of writing in a specific style and for a specific audience.

Understand the sequence of a good story

Your story should have some basic areas including introduction where you give some background information about the characters and the setting; it should have a pre-climax which is the main part of your story leading up to the emotional peak; it should then have a climax where the characters come to the emotional, physical, or spiritual battle that they have; finally the post-climax and conclusion of your story.

It doesn't matter what you write or how you write it. The important thing is to remember is to be yourself, give a part of who you are, and to get your story out there.

Editing and Publishing

This part can be different if you are an indie author also called a self-published author or if your work has been accepted by an editorial and they are doing the editing and publishing work.

Editing

If you are a self-published author then the editing part is VERY important as it is in any case but you don't have the extra porfessional insight into the changes that you need to make in your story. With that said it is also good to get a fresh pair of eyes to read your story because when you read your own story many times you won't pick up errors that others may find.

Publishing

This many times is the most difficult part of getting your story out there. There are many ways to publish your book. The best way to do so nowadays is to use a self-publishing website like CreateSpace or Bubok through these website it is free to publish your book and they offer paid services that you can use as additions. You can then sell your book in their virtual bookstore as a paperback copy or as an ebook. Through CreateSpace you will also be able to join Kindle Publishing Direct to publish your ebook to Kindle on various of their sites and in various countries. Then you can create your promotional create a blog, having a website, promoting books on Facebook, and promoting on Twitter. There are also companies that promote indie authors such as SouthOut MyBook or Self-Publishers' ShowCase and these companies will create an email list of thousands of book lovers they will also put tweets about your book and put posts on Facebook promoting your book. These services can go from a one-time free deal to $15 or up to $150 for the more in-depth better deals.

The importat thing in writing your story is to get started and get it out there!

If you don't write your story then no else will and no one will hear the story you have to tell.

Keep on writing!!!
